The act of creating, parading, and then releasing into a bonfire has long historical traditions across the UK (with Lewes Bonfire Night as an example right on our doorstep!). It's a process that resonates with communities to express, share and release ideas, hopes and wishes. Burning the Clocks is an antidote to the challenges and commercialisation of daily life, inviting people to find optimism in the lengthening days ahead. Every year local artist Graham Carter donates an uplifting bespoke illustration to Burning the Clocks.

Sophie Darling started out as a kind of print sketchbook, I started experimenting back in the studio turning my illustrations into prints. Since then I have built ’the Darling' one print at a time. I work with talented people in my local community from student interns, pattern cutters and seamstresses to create handmade, luxury garments where the print and pattern design do the talking. We love being part of the Hanningintons Estate, where we are surrounded by other talented creative brands. Our shop is the perfect way for us to showcase all our lovely patterns and other local designers who we feature instore.
